Title: Research translation journeys
Abstract: In this presentation, I'll discuss what I've learned about challenges that researchers face in making a difference in the world with their research.
Bio: I started my career as a photonics researcher at Melbourne University, then moved to Silicon Valley, where I became absorbed by the challenges of getting leading-edge research out of labs and into the world. I returned to Australia to lead a Monash University spin-out that ultimately failed. My focus since then, most recently as a co-founder of Cruxes Innovation, has been helping other researchers create impact from their research, drawing on my own experiences of failures and successes. So far Cruxes' founders have worked with over 600 impact-hungry Australian researchers.
