2023 EQUS Python Workshop

About this event

The EQUS Mentoring & Career Development Committee are pleased to offer Python training for EQUS members again in 2023. This year EQUS will be engaging NobleProg to deliver their Machine Learning with Python Course. The course will be delivered virtually over two consecutive days, with each day running for 7 hours including breaks. If we have a number of people interested in the course that are based at one node we will look at identifying a computer lab where individuals can be co-located while participating in the course.

Where: Virtual via Zoom

When: Thursday 14th - Friday 15th December

Prerequisites: Knowledge of Python programming language.  Basic familiarity with statistics and linear algebra is recommended.

Course overview: The aim of this course is to provide a basic proficiency in applying Machine Learning methods in practice.  Through the use of the Python programming language and its various libraries, and based on a multitude of practical examples this course will teach you how to use the most important building blocks of Machine Learning, how to make data modelling decisions, interpret the outputs of the algorithms and validate the results. Participants will gain skills to understand and use the most fundamental tools from the Machine Learning toolbox confidently and avoid the common pitfalls of Data Science applications.
