Aggie Branczyk recently hosted two successful workshops, one in Sydney with 12 participants and another at the University of Queensland with 17 attendees, focused on transitioning from academia to other career paths. The Careers Beyond Academia workshop is designed to guide individuals through the process of exploring new professional opportunities and understanding their value in the broader job market.
The workshop’s structured agenda included a series of exercises to help attendees gain clarity on their career goals. Participants learned to evaluate their skills, explore various job roles, and understand what hiring managers are looking for. Through a combination of reflection, research, and practical advice, the session empowered participants with actionable steps to take toward their next career move.
Kerstin Beer said “The engaging exercises gave me a ton of new job ideas, even though I’ve been thinking about career options for a while now. The workbook we received was super helpful—it’s packed with practical tools for job searching and making career decisions. Overall, Aggie’s well-structured workshop provided fresh insights and useful resources!”
The interactive approach helped attendees gain insight into how to effectively present themselves to potential employers.
Led by Aggie Branczyk, a physicist and entrepreneur with extensive experience in both academia and the tech industry, the workshop also introduced participants to Academics in the Wild, a community for those exploring careers outside of academia. This initiative offers a supportive space for scientists to connect, share advice, and discover new professional paths.
